The Scholarship

Applying seniors must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade point average (GPA) 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent)

  • Active in their community through volunteering, athletics or clubs

  • Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.

 

We are looking for applicants who embody Christine’s generous and humorous nature. The chosen senior will be awarded $5,000 to be put towards tuition, room and board, books, etc.

The Application Process

The scholarship is a merit-based scholarship. Applicants must show some of the similar attributes as Christine (Generosity, Kindness, Humor, and Determination) in their application. In order to do so, you will be asked to submit the following:

  • Evidence of community service, volunteering, team sports participation, or other forms of “generosity” or giving to others

  • A copy of your transcript for your GPA

  • A copy of the acceptance letter for the university/college you will be attending

  • A limited essay of 500-1,000 words to be considered. 

  • Submit 2 recommendations from teachers and/or community leaders. 

  • Applications must be received by May 1, 2024

  • The $5,000 will be paid directly to the awardee, to be used for tuition, room/board, books, etc. The funds will be paid no later than June 30th.

  • Humor is always welcome in the written essay! 

The Essay

In your essay, we want you to show us how you embody Christine's dedication, kindness, generosity, and humor in 500-1,000 words. Examples of essay topics may include:

  • Who has had the most influence in your life? How have they influenced you and shaped your future goals?

  • If money, time, and ability were not an issue, who would you most want to help? Why and how might you do it?

  • Explain your volunteering activities or involvement with a charitable organization. Why did you choose that organization? What have you learned? How has it influenced you?

  • Describe a hardship you had to overcome. What motivated you the most?

  • Or whatever you want to write about. You do not have to select one of these topics but please relate your essay to Christine's traits

Selection Criteria

Once you apply, the Board of Directors judges each student's application on several factors:

  • Submissions must be free of grammatical error. 

  • Evidence of leadership or service through volunteering or community involvement

  • Exceptionally exhibits Christine's traits of:

    • Kindness​

    • Generosity

    • Determination

    • Humor
